All the 5 plants were alive and recovered on one day exposure to atmosphere. These were then transferred to ceramic pots and are growing into beautiful succulents.
I received a healthy plant. Packaging was good which protected the plant from spoilage. But I didn’t receive the succulent plants which I was supposed to get as free becayiş i placed the order by 29th November. I received 2 succulents from my other order however! Monstera adansonii or dwarf Cheese Plant vine is actually an Aeroid species. It is also called as monsteria. Aeroid are semi epiphytic plant which grow in humid environment and throw aerial roots. This plant originates basically from Mexican rainforests specially from Panama. Monstera is also called swiss cheese plant like holes on its leaves. Deliciosa means delicious, this plant is called so because it bears amazingly tasty fruit on maturity which tastes as a mix of Jack fruit, grapes and guava. Monstera plant in initial stage do not show fenestration. It means the holes in plant appears once plant is mature at least 2 year old. Have you ever wondered why monstera leaves have holes? This is due to special adaptation on plant if it will not have holes strong winds and hurricanes which is common in Panama region will knock this plant down from its carrier. So plant came up with unique technique to produce holes in its giant leaves so that air can flow without any problem. Isn’t it amazing?
Light: Buy Monstera plant prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight as it can scorch the leaves. Place your plant near a north or east-facing window where it can receive plenty of indirect sunlight.
Watering: Water your Monstera adansonii when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings, but don't let it completely dry out. Temperature: Monstera adansonii prefers temperatures between (18°C to 32°C). Avoid placing it near drafts or heating/cooling vents, as sudden temperature changes can stress the plant.
Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix rich in organic matter. A mix formulated for tropical plants or a combination of peat moss, perlite, and orchid bark works well. Repot your Monstera adansonii when it outgrows its current pot, typically every 1-2 years in spring.
Fertilizing: Feed your Monstera adansonii with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce fertilization during fall and winter when growth slows down.
Support: Monstera adansonii is a vining plant and benefits from support such as a moss pole, trellis, or stake. This will encourage upward growth and prevent the plant from becoming too leggy.
Pruning: Regularly prune your Monstera adansonii to control its size and encourage bushier growth. You can prune back leggy stems and propagate the cuttings to create new plants.
Pests and diseases: Keep an eye out for common houseplant pests such as spider mites, aphids, and mealybugs. Inspect your plant regularly and treat any infestations promptly. Ensure good air circulation around the plant to prevent fungal diseases.
